Visualization for Grounding and Being Present

TORNADO, RAIN, FLAME - THE COLORS OF THE RAINBOW

This is a visualization meditation for getting grounded and becoming more present - for those times when you might feel not quite centered in your body or when your energy is scattered. Great for when you first wake up in the morning... It takes about five minutes.

This meditation makes use of the imagination in visualizing the colors of the rainbow - in correspondence to the chakra energy centers of your body - and three elemental images: a tornado (wind), rain (water) and flame (fire). Colors are frequencies of light, so as you visualize each color it works a different range of vibrations in your body.

Start by getting into a comfortable sitting position. Placing your attention on your root chakra, at the base of your torso. Imagine the breath going in and out of that area. In your mind's eye, visualize that you are standing at the center of a RED TORNADO. As you breathe in, imagine the color getting stronger and brighter. As you breathe out, imagine all that which may be distracting you from being completely present flying away in the tornado, away from your energy field. Do this for three breath cycles.

Now change the image to RED RAIN. This rain is coming down all around you. Breathing in, make the color stronger and brighter; breathing out, imagine that which is not helpful to you getting washed away by the rain. Do this for three breath cycles.

Next, change the image to a RED FLAME you are standing at the center of. Breathing in, make the color stronger and brighter; breathing out, imagine that which is not contributing to your highest state of being getting burned away in the flame. Do this for three breath cycles.

Now shift your attention, your breath, to your lower belly, the second chakra. Change the color to ORANGE, and for three breath cycles each, imagine the three images - an orange tornado, orange rain, and an orange flame. Breathing in, making the color brighter and stronger, breathing out, letting go of all that is not useful to you.

Next, bring your breathing attention up to your solar plexus, the third chakra, and visualize a YELLOW tornado, a yellow rain, and a yellow flame for three breath cycles each....letting go....

Continue moving your attention up through the chakra centers and visualizing the colors with the three images in this way...

The fourth chakra is the HEART chakra, at the center of your chest. The color to visualize is GREEN.
The fifth chakra is the THROAT chakra, at the center of your throat. The color is BLUE.
The sixth chakra is the THIRD EYE, in the center of your forehead. The color is PURPLE/VIOLET.
The seventh chakra is the CROWN, at the top of your head. The color to visualize is SILVER-WHITE.

When you finish, notice any differences in how you feel in your body. Notice the power of the imagination for effecting and changing your physical reality.
